Family ties

We celebrated Christmas last week with the Garfields in the only way we know how: kazoo caroling. It's sort of a tradition.

Last year Franky was not a fan of the kazoos:

But making noise is something he has developed a passion for. And so this year kazooing was right up his alley.

We love being a part of a large, extended family. Our family is growing and it's exciting to get together every year and see all of the new additions. We've got two on the way as we speak - mine and my cousin Katie's who will be born only a few weeks apart. My Grandpa and cousin talked a lot about how important family traditions are and on the way home Zach and I discussed the things we really remember about the holidays. It's not the present or the food (well, sometimes the food) but most of all we remember the things we did and the people we did them with. I really hope we can create lasting memories and traditions for our family.

Merry Christmas!

Thankfulness

I am thankful...

... I am married to a wonderful man who takes care of me, who is my best friend, with whom I agree on all the important staples in life.

... for an adorable, lovable, healthy little boy with a happy demeanor who is the sunshine in my life every day.

... for the financial stability we've been able to achieve without going into debt or depending upon two incomes.

... for amazing friends who inspire me to be a better person, who are strong and intelligent and who make me laugh.

... for my family who loves me unconditionally and who more importantly love my son fiercely.

... for a healthy body which allows me to bear children.

... for my ability to run (yeah, I should probably get on that) and the joy I've found in doing so.

... for my country and the freedom to make of my life what I will.

... for my Savior who is always there to bring me back from the edge of the precipice, who allows me to "become the miracle."

... I'm also thankful for you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The last day of fall

Last week my friend and I took our kids to Liberty Park for one last hurrah before it snowed.

Yeah, we give birth to baby models round these parts. They say it's something in the water.

Best buddies

Zach and I joke that Franky hugs Tyke WAY more than he's ever hugged the both of us. Except we're not really joking...

Lazy fall

Sometimes we celebrate Thursdays by bumming around in our pajamas all day long.

But when daddy gets home we take a break from our bumming and go for a little walk.

We inspect the sprinkler heads

And we check out the leaves.

Then we go home and bum around some more.
